About Amed

Amed is a long coastal strip of fishing villages situated in East Bali, Karangasem region. It is about 100 km from the airport and 23 km from Amlapura (the capital of Karangasem). This is everything you dreamed it would be: a rare and special paradise of outstanding exotic beauty, vibrant culture and friendly people. Here you can finally find peace and quiet, enjoy great food and take advantage of comfortable and inexpensive accommodation.

Amed Bali is the place to escape the crowd. Unlike the Bali beaches in the south chances are you will have the entire beach pretty much to yourself here. Just like Lovina in the north, Amed is not just one village but a string of smaller villages located on a 10-km long road in the Karangasem province.

Amed is the most recent tourist development area in Bali. It was only in 2000 that tarmac was laid on the roads. Telephone lines were installed in 2003 and it took until 2007 for a bridge to be built over a section of the main road that regularly washed away during the rainy season.
