Java is one of Indonesia's most populated islands. You can find almost anything there, including various attractions and natural excursions. Java may not be as well-known as Bali, but you don't need to question its exoticism.

Some of the cities most known for their tourist attractions include:

1. Yogyakarta

Who doesn't know Yogyakarta? Where one of the World's Wonders is located nearby, namely Borobudur Temple. Borobudur Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia, located in Magelang, Central Java.

Apart from Borobudur, there is another temple that is no less magnificent, namely Prambanan Temple which is located in Yogyakarta. Different from Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple is the largest Hindu temple building in Indonesia which was built in the 9th century AD.

Besides enjoying its heritage, Yogyakarta also offers various entertainment with a classic feel. People in Yogyakarta are friendly, which contributes to the calm vibes of this city.

2. Jakarta 

Jakarta is Indonesia's capital, the center of everything. There is an iconic landmark known as the National Monument or MONAS. Just like other major cities, Jakarta has many skyscrapers in the downtown area. These buildings house offices, shops and homes for the bustling city population. As the country's largest city, Jakarta is teeming with residents.

However, Jakarta offers much more than urban business for visitors. One gem not to be missed is the Thousand Islands, a short boat ride from the city. The idyllic islands boast beautiful beaches, crystal clear water for swimming and snorkeling, and lush greens. The Thousand Islands offer a picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of Jakarta.

3. Malang and Surabaya

Malang and Surabaya are cities in East Java. Surabaya is the largest city in East Java and Malang is the second after it. The distance between Malang and Surabaya is not too far, it only takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive. There is one tourist attraction that has become a favorite of local and foreign tourists between these two cities, namely Mount Bromo. Mount Bromo can be accessed from Surabaya and Malang.
