Overview

If you want to see the majestic of Bromo in the middle of the night, you can tour it during the night.

You'll drive from Surabaya to Sukapura village (Bromo Area) in the middle of the night. Upon arriving at Sukapura, you'll head to Mt. Penanjakan to see the sunrise of Bromo. There's no better place to watch the Bromo sunrise than Mount Penanjakan. The mountain provides the best view of the volcano landscape as you watch the magical Bromo sunrise with Mt. Semeru in the background, Indonesia's highest peak.

Majestic views of the sand sea and volcanic craters

When you drive down the hill, you'll see a huge sand sea stretching as far as the eye can see. On the crater rim, you can enjoy Bromo's active crater, caldera, and Mt. Batok and Mt. Semeru is Java's highest mountains. The orange sand contrasts beautifully with the mountains covered in lush green vegetation.

History of the Majapahit Kingdom

As well as the Hindu temple, you can see the history of the empire that ruled Java - the Majapahit Kingdom from 1295 to around 1500 AD. The temple and surroundings give you a glimpse into Java's rich cultural and historical past.

Finally, after breakfast at a local restaurant that serves traditional Javanese dishes, we return to Surabaya, refreshed by the natural wonders we witnessed at Bromo and the historical sites we explored surrounding the volcano.
